Murhhhhhghgghhhh okay. I read this book because Bernie Su (producer of Lizzie Bennet Diaries, etc.) got hired to produce a webseries adaptation of it. I think it'll translate well to a webseries (if it's done like Carmilla, which I expect it will be). But... (Spoilers ahead!)

Ugh, it's Harry Potter but set in Ohio and with a murder mystery. There were SO MANY plot points and little pieces of the story that were EXACTLY the same as HP but with a slightly different name. Dusty pretty much saves the day with the swish-and-flick, except here, it's called the snatch-and-smack.

The magical world that Mindee Arnett has built is fascinating and really, really cool. I'd love to read future books in this series. But the plot of this one was such a huge disappointment and totally unoriginal.
