At the New Seoul Park where the crowds hunger for fun stood a man in an old uniform offering visitors jelly that promises whoever eats it will ‘never be separated’ from the person they love. Gritty incidents with squishyly sweet smell then start to arise— “People melting because they ate some strange jelly. You’ll see, something fun is about to happen…”
A tangled catastrophic masses told in episodic POVs from a lonely child to a struggling park worker, a single mom, a cleaning service owner and a 500-day in relationship couple— too grotesque on its descriptive body horror with commentary of one’s insecurity, unhealthy attachment, anxiety and greed. Liked how the tale absorbed me with each backstory and glimpse towards one’s feel of detachment and desperation. Addictively plotted, quite touching and I wish the jelly mystery can be delved more at the end. 4/5*
