ARC REVIEW
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
"Three, two, one. One, two, three. Better watch out: Peter Pan is going to murder thee."
This book easily takes the cake for my favourite of the month, it is a really great read. I feel like retellings have become really popular recently and I am here for it. I adore the original Peter Pan (my nickname from my family is Tink), what I really liked about Nikki’s adaptation of the classic was how she made it her own while also keeping the narrative relatable towards the original story. For example, a key aspect of this book revolves around Peter Pan’s shadow, and in the Movie, Peter’s shadow is a living entity that also goes missing.
While I was reading, I was constantly connecting dots between the original and Nikki’s book. The inclusion of Tinkerbell was really clever and nuanced. I won’t go into much more detail other than noting that the use of her jealousy was a really clever way to create originality in the book.
Now, with this book being a RH (reverse harem) adult romance there is an expectant level of steam. However, it isn’t too steamy, 3 chillis/5, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. I think it was an appropriate level for the book because it still allowed there to be a narrative without it being a sex-fest. The romance is actually decent, not only is there no insta-love but there is also clear chemistry and passion between the characters. There is a touch of enemies to lovers which is 10/10. Also, morally gray characters, swoon.
This book was amazing, and luckily for you, it came out today! Remember to check out any possible triggers.
