Synopsis

This unique book presents two interwoven stories: one told almost entirely through illustrations, and the other through prose. In 1766, a boy named Billy Marvel survives a shipwreck and establishes a renowned family of actors in London. Centuries later, in 1990, Joseph Jervis runs away to London and becomes fascinated by the mysterious Marvel house, filled with portraits and spectral presences, as he uncovers the family's hidden history.
