Synopsis

Miss Naomi Kwan has wanted to take Wedgeford's ambulance class since she was sixteen, and after years of being turned away, she shows up determined to enroll herself, only to be told an unmarried young woman of Chinese descent can't sign up without a man's permission. Desperate, she claims the tall, silent Chinese nobleman standing nearby is her fiancé, and to her shock, he plays along.

Liu Ji Kai is in Wedgeford on his family's business, working an elaborate scheme with no room in it for a fake fiancée winding her way into his plans, or his heart. But Naomi and Kai were actually betrothed as children, and though he vanished for seventeen years, the engagement she invented on the spot was never really a lie. As their feelings deepen and their family obligations collide, both must decide how much of the truth they can afford to tell.
