Synopsis

Four children, each having faced significant hardship, discover they possess rare magical abilities. Brought together in a new home, they must learn to master their powers and rely on each other as their sanctuary comes under threat. Tamora Pierce (born December 13, 1954, in South Connellsville, Pennsylvania) is an American author of fantasy fiction for young adults, best known for her Tortall novels beginning with the Song of the Lioness quartet (1983–1988). She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976 and was awarded the Young Adult Library Services Association's Margaret A. Edwards Award in 2013 for her lasting contribution to writing for teens.
