Synopsis

Daniel Rooke is a quiet astronomer and soldier who arrives in New South Wales with the First Fleet in 1788. While his fellow officers struggle with the harsh landscape and the local population, Rooke builds a solitary observatory and begins a delicate exchange of language with a young Gadigal girl. This connection forces him to choose between his military duty and his growing understanding of a culture the British are systematically dismantling.
