This book was so good, and I don’t care what anyone says! The plot and the characters—especially the main ones—were incredible. The series started with them for a reason, and I absolutely loved their chemistry and personalities.
I’ve seen people giving this book 2 or 3 stars and saying there wasn’t enough romance, but I completely disagree. For me, the romance was perfect. I loved how this story wasn’t just about a “silly” romance . It explored not only Alistair and Briar’s journey but also gave us glimpses into the lives of the boys and Lyra. this wasn’t just about the main couple ; it was also about introducing us to the word of this series but that didn’t ruin the romance for me What Alistair and Briar had was more than enough, and I already feel like they’ll be one of my favorite couples (and yes, I always end up loving the couples most people don’t prefer 😭).
The author did an amazing job with world-building, and now I’m so curious to learn more about the other characters.
And excuse me ? The way alistair describes the emotions briar evoked in him ?!!!!!
•“Something happened inside of me in that moment. All these dark clouds herded over me and it began to pour rain. Rain that fell hard and fast over the inside of my chest, wetting an organ that I thought had shriveled up and died. My heart was a desert. Deserted, dry, without nurture or care. Nothing but sand and blistering heat. And it had just started raining for the first time in my life. The beating no longer felt painful, but smooth, the way it was always meant to beat.”
• “ I’m not sure what I can give you, but whatever is left of me, whatever I have, it’s yours, for as long as you want it.”
