This one didn’t work for me. It’s a formulaic whodunnit dressed up in a post-apocalyptic setting, but the mystery felt too familiar and the stakes never really landed. Maybe it was the narrator on the audiobook, but I had a hard time taking it seriously from the start.

The worldbuilding had potential, especially with the dynamic between the villagers and the elders, but it never went deep enough. One major reveal came close to turning things around, but the follow-through wasn’t there. In the end, it just felt too predictable and a little too pleased with itself. Not my favorite.
