Synopsis

Set in post-World War I England, The Last Heir to Blackwood Library follows Ivy Radcliffe, a twenty-three-year-old Londoner with nothing left to keep her in the city after losing her brother in the war. When she unexpectedly inherits Blackwood Abbey, a sprawling estate on the Yorkshire moors, and the title of Lady Hayworth, she travels north to a home — and a bloodline — she never knew she had.

Despite cryptic warnings from the household staff, Ivy is irresistibly drawn to Blackwood's library, where ordinary books share shelf space with strange, esoteric texts, and where she senses a presence with a will of its own. To claim her inheritance and her own story, Ivy must uncover the secrets the library — and her family — have kept buried for generations.

Hester Fox's novel is a gothic, atmospheric ghost story for book lovers, blending historical fiction with fantasy and the supernatural.
