The Lancashire Witches, a Romance of Pendle Forest
In 16th-century Lancashire, a Cistercian monk, falsely accused of witchcraft, sells his soul to Satan for revenge. Years later, as the warlock Nicholas Demdike, he witnesses his rival's execution, only to be cursed by the dying man, leading to the birth of the 'Lancashire Witches.' The story then shifts to the 17th century, following Mother Demdike and her coven as they navigate rivalries and attempt to corrupt the innocent young Alizon Devi, whose fate becomes a battleground between Heaven and Hell.
