Synopsis

Alison Weir turns to the most dramatic chapter of Anne Boleyn's life: her fall. In the spring of 1536 the queen went from Henry VIII's side to a cell in the Tower of London in a matter of weeks — arrested, charged with adultery, incest, and treason, tried, and beheaded within days. Drawing closely on the contemporary record, Weir reconstructs those final seventeen days and asks who engineered Anne's destruction, and why. The first book devoted entirely to the queen's downfall.
