Synopsis

The Kingmaker opens the All the King's Men duet by Kennedy Ryan. Maxim Cade has money, influence, and the future of a billion-dollar oil empire waiting for him — and he turns his back on all of it to build something of his own. Everything changes when he meets Lennix Hunter, an Indigenous activist risking everything to protect her people's land, land that Maxim's own family took and profited from.

Their connection is instant and undeniable, even as the history between their families — and a truth Maxim has not told her — threatens to tear them apart. Told with what reviewers have called lyrical prose and emotional ferocity, the novel weighs justice against comfort, love against safety, and purpose against privilege, in a slow-burn romance about two people from opposing worlds who cannot stay apart.

Originally self-published before being re-released by Bloom Books in 2023, The Kingmaker is book one of two, continuing in The Rebel King.
