Synopsis

The Kingdom of Gods is the concluding volume of N. K. Jemisin's acclaimed Inheritance Trilogy, a work of epic and mythic fantasy that reimagines the relationship between gods and the mortals who once bound them. Narrated by Sieh, the ancient god of childhood, it is at once a coming-of-age story and a cosmic drama about power, love, and the slow unmaking of a world.

Set about a hundred years after The Broken Kingdoms, the novel follows Sieh's unlikely bond with the Arameri twins Shahar and Deka, a bond that strips him of his immortality and forces the eternal trickster to reckon with mortality, aging, and change. Jemisin threads the intimate story of that friendship and romance through the larger politics of the ruling Arameri and the volatile theology of the Three.

Readers who value richly imagined pantheons, morally complex characters, and emotionally resonant fantasy will find The Kingdom of Gods a fitting and ambitious close to the trilogy.
