Following the backstory to the infamous serial killer, Andrew Streeter from 26 years ago, the plot traversed in between Henley’s past during the murder of her bestfriend, Melissa who was one of the victims from Streeter’s kill list to present-day timeline when Streeter requesting a review to his five counts of murder claiming that it was a miscarriage of justice. It gets more tangled when a corruption rumour emerged about the late DCS Rhimes making Henley and her team to reopen the case and to make matters worse, a series of murders now happening with a new kill list out hunting for its new victims.

So crisp and utterly engaging esp on the procedural part; loving how most of the setting was still at the SCU making it more interesting and purely thrilling for me. Fav scenes for Henley and her teammates; the banters, wits and concerns as well those familial and friendship drama adding more engaging lifelike fillers to the whole investigation progress; of flaws and outlook on how these detectives having to balance their priorities both in lives and job. Same old bureaucratic and office politics with Lillian Klein’s view on the press part; her narrative triggered me like how can you be too selfish(?), she surely deserved those gaslighting from Henley!

Spooky perspective from the real killer in between but it gripped me to learn on his motivation and the brutal ingenious part of his plan. Puzzling, bit psychological and tricky but loving how twisty the catching game goes (ps: murder scenes can be quite graphic) until the end. An absolute tense and well-plotted whodunnit thriller overall, having dark emotional ending but loving how it uncovered the truth about Rhimes with that cliffhanger and hint for the next instalment.

Ramouter: “People change.”
Henley: “Yeah, they do. Or sometimes they’re very good at hiding who they really are.”

(Thank you Times Reads for the gifted review copy!)",4,"none","rv-01kr81rxkgvmkgvz0pfbv4cddm",[],"2026-05-10T04:19:21.000000Z
"https://api.seekquel.app/api/works/01kr81rvy60bk4r4nasc7dbzbh/reviews",20]
