The Keepers

New Orleans hides vampires and shape-shifters among its human population, and a small group called the Keepers polices them. Fiona MacDonald is one of the Keepers, chosen for her skill and strength. Her job is to hold the peace in a city where a single vampire bite could start a war.

When a body turns up drained of blood, Detective Jagger DeFarge is called to the scene. Jagger is himself a vampire. He and Fiona have reason to distrust each other, yet both are pulled into an uneasy partnership to track the killer.

Jagger is determined to catch the murderer whatever it costs him, and that includes working beside Fiona, whom he finds sensual and does not fully trust. The deaths keep coming, and the pattern points away from the work of any ordinary vampire.

The attraction between the two leads builds slowly alongside the murder investigation. Then the killer fixes on Fiona, and Jagger faces a choice: protect the woman he desires, even if it puts his own kind at risk.
