Synopsis

When the lights go down and the slideshow starts in a stuffy corporate boardroom, middle manager Jennifer looks up to see something that can't be there: a headless colleague seated across the table. A trick of the projector's glow, or a preview of something terrible? She tries to shake it off and rescue the meeting — but when her ex drops their son at the office after school, her ordinary afternoon tilts toward nightmare.

The second story in The Shivers, Stephen Graham Jones's The Indigo Room fuses the dull dread of the modern workplace with genuine horror and a blindsiding twist. It's a quick, unnerving read that lingers long after the final page.
