Synopsis

Patience is short of money and long on charm, and Jane Wagner — its temporary librarian, an aspiring film-score composer with a heart she keeps carefully closed — has a plan. Invite Nick Haddon, movie star, to the harvest festival. Let the tourists follow. The plan depends on him saying no, which is why nobody thought to worry about it.

He says yes. He also brings a streaming documentary crew, because his films are flopping, his reputation is worse, and a small town is exactly the kind of place a man goes to be seen putting good karma back into the universe. Jane is assigned to show him around. She is not in the market for a man, least of all a jinxed one, and Nick's warmth is exactly the sort of thing that gets past a guard like hers.

Sariah Wilson writes a small-town celebrity romance with a light touch — sweet rather than steamy, funny about fame, and generous to a heroine who has already learned what happens when you trust the wrong person.
