A beautiful story that combines the main idea of Kipling's Jungle Book with the finest themes of the ghost story tradition, without becoming the least dull or macabre; instead, it's full of pratchettesque humor, it has a very well-conceived plot and it implies the creation of a vaster fantasy world that the reader really wants to know more of. Loved it.
