Synopsis

After years estranged from her daughter, a grandmother finally meets her granddaughters, nine-year-old Daisy and seven-year-old Alice — only for tragedy to bring them together. Their mother is murdered in her own home while the girls sleep down the hall, and the grandmother takes the children in, determined to keep them safe.

She is convinced her son-in-law, Vince, is responsible, though the police cannot prove it. Told from both the grandmother's and Vince's perspectives, the novel builds a tense game of suspicion and misdirection as she digs for the truth behind her daughter's death, uncovering a family secret that complicates everything she believed.

A psychological thriller built on plot twists and an unconventional protagonist who is far from the harmless old woman she might appear to be, The Grandmother is aimed at readers of dark, character-driven suspense fiction.
