Synopsis

A serial killer's inner monologue as he stalks and kills his own family members, told in a tense, claustrophobic first-person narrative — this is psychological-horror at its core, not a procedural or thriller, since the horror comes from the killer's own mind and the reader's growing dread of what he's planning. The moods are dark and tense throughout, with a pervasive sense of dread building toward the final act, and the tone is gritty and unsettling rather than adventurous. The slow-burn, unreliable-narrator, and multiple-pov tropes fit well: the book is a slow build of dread, the narrator's self-justification and denial make him unreliable, and the story is told through the killer's eyes and the victim's.
