🪖 The Good Soldier Švejk 🪖
Okay, I’m gonna be honest — I actually really liked this book. 😭📖
The whole story is so weird, chaotic and genuinely funny that I kept finding myself thinking, what the actual f••• is going on? 💀 Švejk is such a ridiculous character, and somehow his completely chaotic way of dealing with everything makes the story really entertaining.
I really liked the humor and the whole atmosphere. It’s a very different kind of war story — instead of making everything feel heroic or dramatic, it uses satire and absurd situations to show how ridiculous war and military bureaucracy can be.
BUT… I have to admit that the reading itself was sometimes pretty difficult. 😭 Some parts felt long, there are SO many stories and conversations, and sometimes I was just sitting there like: girl, where the hell are we going with this? 💀
Still, I think that’s also part of what makes the book so iconic. It has its own weird style, and once I got into it, I actually started enjoying it a lot more.
It’s definitely not a super easy read, but the humor made it worth it for me. 🖤📖
Final rating: 9/10 🪖💀
Would I reread it? Maybe, but probably not anytime soon.
Would I recommend it? Yes — if you can survive the f•••••• long reading. 😭
