The gold eaters
Young Waman is taken from his fishing village by Spanish conquistadors seeking Peruvian gold. He becomes an indispensable translator between the Spanish explorers, including Francisco Pizarro, and the Incan leaders during a violent period of empire-building and cultural conflict. Waman must learn political maneuvering to survive, hoping to one day reunite with his family and the love of his life. This story is based on real historical events in sixteenth-century South America.
