Synopsis

Drawn to the sun-warmed landscapes of Turkey, an Englishwoman named Delia finds herself falling for Kemal Selim, a magnetic Turkish man whose presence unsettles her composure. The trouble is that Kemal seems to favor the traditional ideal of a meek, docile wife of his own nationality, a role embodied by the quietly suitable Suna Kozlu rather than by an independent foreigner. As Delia navigates the customs, expectations, and cultural distances between herself and the man she wants, misunderstandings and pride keep pushing them apart. Set against an exotic Mediterranean backdrop of ancient sites and local color, the story follows her uncertainty over whether love can bridge the gulf between two different worlds. A short, gently dramatic category romance typical of its era, pairing a spirited heroine and a proud, aloof hero in a foreign setting where the obstacles are as much cultural as personal.
