All seems to go well at first apart from her husband-to-be unkind and infuriating character but unexpected incident has led Ying to discover a parallel world inside the palace mirrors where she meets the prince reflection who is more kinder than the real one. As more encounters persist with a promise to keep, the situation suddenly becomes more tangled for Ying as the two realms collided and unfolding a long and bloody history capturing the truth behind the rumors she heard about the Shan dynasty. \n\nLove the lore and its magical system esp on the inventive sort of dark villain setting from the surreal mirror world. It was gripping at first and enthralled me with its palace intrigue drama following the conflict and hatred from the arranged marriage premise. But as more tensions occured with a quest of revenge plotted, the worldbuilding suddenly became so messy and the execution too gets so underwhelmingly dull to grasp for me. The characterization as well did not impress me much; Ying was too careless, emotional and so dramatic, nothing compelling on the ‘enemy’ part (not a fan to Shan anyway) and their ‘lover’ narrative felt so stiff, forceful and at times was so exasperating to follow. \n\nWish I could get more thrills on the action scenes or at least spine-chilling much considering how Ying needs to find a way to fix the barrier while fighting with those creatures, caught in a prison and to find her family to be set on a trial yet it frustrates me that the execution did not craft as engaging as I hoped. Those twists and turns were unfortunately tedious (and foreseen) that I was not curious at all on how it will end. \n\nWould still go recommending this despite my personal thoughts on the read as I see some myth fantasy readers actually enjoyed the book and giving it a 5-star, perhaps you might appreciate this book more than I do","none","rv-01kr81q95gey6mx3rza543hx0b",[],"2026-05-10T04:18:27.000000Z",{"first":7,"last":7,"prev":7,"next":7},{"path":100,"per_page":101,"next_cursor":7,"prev_cursor":7,"has_more":18},"https:\u002F\u002Fapi.seekquel.app\u002Fapi\u002Fworks\u002F01kr81q6wqnt6eta507db97bpd\u002Freviews",20]
