Synopsis

In 1867 Lyme Regis, England, a respectable paleontologist, Charles Smithson, is engaged to a wealthy heiress. His life takes an unexpected turn when he becomes fascinated by Sarah Woodruff, a mysterious and ostracized woman known as 'the French Lieutenant's Woman.' As Charles is drawn into her enigmatic world, he finds himself questioning Victorian society's rigid conventions and his own destiny.
