One of the first novels I ever read, and to this day the longest, at over 700 pages. The Fountainhead has a lot going on, but above all, it is a bold, highly opinionated novel about independence, ambition, and creative integrity. It’s written with conviction and has a strong sense of style, which makes it memorable even when you don’t agree with its philosophy. The book is most compelling when it focuses on passion and principle, though its characters and ideas can feel intense and one-sided. But I personally like it because it is about architecture, and that speaks to me personally.
