Synopsis

Twenty-five years after the deaths at 16 Cheyne Walk, the Lamb siblings have scattered and rebuilt quieter lives. Henry is fixated on tracking down a boy he was obsessed with as a child. Lucy is raising two children abroad, earning money playing violin on the street, having left behind a marriage that mirrored the control she grew up with.

When human remains are pulled from the Thames and identified through forensic evidence, a detective's investigation reopens the case the family assumed was closed. Old relationships resurface, including a woman searching for answers about her own connection to the Lamb family's past, and the present-day threads gradually converge on what really happened in that house.

A direct sequel to The Family Upstairs, picking up the same survivors a quarter-century later.
