Synopsis

In The Expanding Circle, philosopher Peter Singer argues that moral consideration should be extended to any being capable of suffering — regardless of species or cognitive ability — challenging the boundaries of empathy we typically draw between humans and other animals. Blending evolutionary biology with ethical theory, it has become a foundational text in animal rights philosophy.
