Another stunning Daevabad adventure in this final installment. A worth 700+ pages to wrap up the whole series, bit hectic and fierce yet majestically written. After Manizheh brutal conquest resulting in the fallen of Daevabad, Nahri and Alizayd who were now safe in Cairo, facing difficulty in choices of their own. Nahri has find peace and comfort of her homeland but is haunted by the knowledge to rescue the people in Daevabad from the new tyrant while Alizayd who is determined to return and saving the city has discovered the truth of his relation to the marid which goes deeper than he thought.
The worldbuilding much more vast this time-- love that it evolved in parallel with the characters, more views and backstory of the elemental creatures; peri, marid, shedu (I love Sobek so much, he reminds me of Khayzur a lot). An intense plotline with more twists and tragic encounters, glad it was still using the same perspective formula with 3 POVs-- Nahri, Alizayd and Dara that at least I could be in the shoes of those 3 central characters especially Dara who irks me a lot during this finale but I know I can't blame him totally for the mess.
A more personal and poignantly nuanced compared to the previous installments as the characters learned more about their past-- few heartbroken revelation and dark secrets and I like that it did answer all the plot holes/threads it brought along from the first episode.
Totally in love with the alternative epilogue (me suddenly hoping there'll be a series of those three having adventure in hunting the ifrits) and idk why I am fond with both Zaynab and Dara's relationship. As much as I want the courtship between Nahri and Alizayd to happen, I am still glad that they both find their ways of happiness at the end.
Bidding my farewell to the series and thank you for a fantastic journey to your world :')
ps: I'm having a personal fav with one of the shafit pirate, glad you are a good person here wink
