Synopsis

Father Blaise Meredith, a Vatican priest and canon lawyer, is sent to the remote Calabrian village of Gemello Maggiore to investigate the sainthood case of Giacomo Nerone. Dying of a terminal illness, Meredith expects to live only a few months and takes the case as his final duty. As he uncovers the truth behind Nerone's veneration, he is drawn into the conflicting motives of the villagers around him — a desperate mayor, a manipulative local noblewoman, and a young man caught between them — and must decide what truth to believe and what faith to hold before his time runs out.
