Synopsis

Deep in debt and facing ruin, Benedict Chatham, the new Marquess of Rutherford, agrees to marry the daughter of a wealthy coal merchant for a massive dowry. He expects a plain, quiet bride who will stay out of his way, but Charlotte has no intention of being a submissive wife. As they clash over their forced arrangement, Benedict is forced to confront his own self-destructive habits while Charlotte fights for her independence.
