Synopsis

In 1935, newly Jung-trained psychiatrist Viktor Kosárek takes a post at Hrad Orlů, a state-of-the-art asylum set in a medieval castle above Prague, home to the country's six most notorious killers—the Woodcutter, the Clown, the Glass Collector, the Vegetarian, the Sciomancer, and the Demon. Each insists a diabolical being compelled their atrocities, and Viktor hopes to prove they share a single archetype of evil latent in all humanity: the Devil Aspect.

Below in the city, police investigator Lukáš Smolák hunts a phantom murderer imitating Jack the Ripper—and the trail may lead back up the mountain to the Devil's Six. Steeped in Central European folklore and shadowed by the Nazism rising just across the border, Craig Russell's The Devil Aspect is a stylish, tightly wound gothic thriller about madness, evil, and where the two meet.
