I think this could have been my favorite book of the Made series. It had a lot of tropes that I usually like: kidnapper/captive relation, naive & inexperienced girl falls for the mean, bad mob boss, cute words and phrases said in a different language, cute pets, but the execution was a big NO. There are some disgusting scenes that made me dislike it.
I like mafia books and that comes with the knowledge that there will be some misogyny, violence, morally gray and questionable actions. But there’s a very fine line where these actions become pure humiliation and violence and some crossed that line: He films her while their having a sexual encounter and sends the video to her father, he degrades her, insults her (not in a sarcastic way like other morally gray characters), he slaps her while she’s tied to a chair, ties her naked to a bed and allows other people to look at her, and so much more.
Mila was stupid, not a cute naive young girl, just stupid. She get attacked and almost raped and decides to trust the tattooed, unknown man she just met, in a different country where she understands nothing and knows no one. And that it’s just the beginning, she does something stupid and humiliating every chapter. I like some pieces of her personality like how she’s very feminine, sweet and basically wants world peace and has a golden heart but I don’t understand why the author made her so dumb.
There were some enjoyable moments but I just can’t forget the rest.
