The story is particularly interesting because of the unconventional narrator's voice, a fifteen-year-old autistic boy. Though at first, it seems like a mystery novel, it soon becomes clear the crime at the beginning is the catalyst for Christopher finding out family secrets. Along the way, he grows and becomes more independent. It's a story about love and the complexities of taking care of a special needs kid. I found it lovely, and it was an effort to put it down so I could get some sleep.
