Richard Preston (born August 5, 1954, in Cambridge, Massachusetts) is an American writer, best known for nonfiction books on infectious disease and bioterrorism, including "The Hot Zone" (1994), "The Cobra Event" (1997) and "The Demon in the Freezer" (2002).
