The city who fought
Simeon is a shellperson, a human mind wired directly into the systems of a massive space station. When a fleet of ruthless pirates attacks his home, he must use his knowledge of ancient military history to organize a desperate defense. While he orchestrates a dangerous game of deception, he has to hide his own existence and watch the woman he loves fall for another man.
This novel is a standalone entry within the "Brainship" series, which features various authors contributing stories about sentient starships. While it shares a universe and some thematic elements with other Brainship books, it can be read independently without prior knowledge of the series.
The City Who Fought is part of Anne McCaffrey's larger "Brainship" universe, which she originated. It expands on the concept of shellpeople and their role in space exploration and defense, a theme central to her earlier Brainship novels.
