Centered on a new protagonist, it started when Nanami Kosaki; an asthmatic and booklover junior high school girl who depends on her local library for comfort discovered that few of her fav reads suddenly disappeared from the library shelves. She gets so curious that none of the adults in the library noticed it even the grumpy librarian Hamura and when she saw a grey suited man at the library looking so shady and fit her book thief definition, Nanami decided to follow him and somehow involved in unexpected quest after she accidentally meet Tiger the tabby.

The plot was much more simpler with nothing that complex or diverse like the 1st book yet still having that labyrinth adventure and surreal inviting passageway that brought both Nanami and Tiger to encounter a mysterious castle of The Grey King with a troop of grey pallid soldiers actively burning books that they regard as dangerous. It highlighted much on the power of books and how it imaginative plots can spark empathy to a reader that according to the King would leaves a person weak and helpless. I won’t go in detail on their debates but it was somehow interesting to think about.

Loved how the execution go linking with Nanami’s frail condition (her asthma attack at times making me so worried) and observed the sort of distant relationship with her workaholic father. Both heartwarming and bit action-packed, having a cameo of both Rintaro and Sayo (you’ll definitely need to read the 1st book if you haven’t!) with list of famous books getting mentioned (noted on the recommendations!) in between. Both tense and thrilling nearing the end but easy to foresee too on how the drama would go with The Grey King.

A quick, light and comforting read overall for me. Thoughtful and reflective on the theme with realism meets fantasy setting; lovers to magical realism or fans to bookish related premise would definitely enjoy this read. No idea whether it will have book 3 or not but hopefully I could meet Tiger the tabby again",4,"none","rv-01kr81hchsdre9ym7pbd38hrj7",[],"2026-05-10T04:15:14.000000Z
"01knsywmjjf8taf3sjsfc3tgzv","review-of-the-cat-who-saved-books-by-ayesha-2","Review of "The Cat Who Saved Books" by ayesha_2
97,"Ayesha","ayesha_2","https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a/ACg8ocKMFhclcnY-u82QadLsWOAPntypLlKOLpunEgo_iGP6IIqgxlem9w=s96-c",96,171,"rv-01knsywmjjf8taf3sjsfc3tgzv",[],"2026-04-09T20:28:11.000000Z
"https://api.seekquel.app/api/works/01kkc6fsp87a60w51y39g8dvb4/reviews",20]
