Synopsis

In the autumn of 1940, Oxford becomes the stage for a theatrical premiere that takes a deadly turn. When a beautiful and controversial actress is found murdered, the police suspect suicide, but a sharp-witted literature professor sees foul play. Can he uncover the truth amidst a cast of suspects, each with their own secrets and motives?

Montgomery wrote nine detective novels and two collections of short stories under the pseudonym Edmund Crispin.
