This Cambridge Companion is an excellent introduction to Arthuriana for those interested in reading the medieval primary sources and looking for a succinct analysis of its themes. It's divided into two sections, the first part goes through the evolution of Arthurian Legend in the main literary works and the second part focuses on its themes. It's a short book so it doesn't go into much detail but for an Arthurian enthusiast is more than enough.
