Synopsis

Grace Allen is twenty-two and still working through the aftermath of a traumatic past when she reluctantly starts dating again. She meets Samuel "Cal" Callaghan, older than her usual type, tattooed, and raising his teenage sister on his own after their parents left the picture. Cal is patient in a way Grace isn't used to, and the relationship develops slowly as both of them navigate what they're willing to reveal about themselves.

Coney keeps the focus tight on the two leads and their emotional pacing rather than external plot mechanics — Grace's guardedness and Cal's steady persistence carry most of the tension. The book is the first in The Brightest Light series and was originally published in Spanish before this English edition.

This is a slow-burn New Adult romance centered on trauma recovery and rebuilding trust, with the found-family dynamic of Cal's makeshift household as a recurring backdrop.
