One of my new year’s resolutions (yes I know it’s february but I’ve been busy) is to write reviews only focusing on what I think and not to look at other people’s opinions first. So here it is.
I had so many feelings reading this story. There were lots of screaming at characters (mostly to Lara tbh) but I really liked it.
I was hooked from the beginning even if the world was a little confusing, especially trying to picture the bridge, which was more of a tunnel apparently. But overall it was good, I couldn’t stop reading.
My favorite character was Aren, he truly cared for his people. At first I thought he was a little dumb not realizing very obvious things in front of him but then he proved me wrong. Lara is a different story thought, I liked her personality but I found her motivations for fighting against Ithicana and considering them monsters not enough, I understand she was manipulated by Magpie but she grew up isolated from everyone but her sisters, to have such love for her kingdom didn't make sense to me. It took her way too long to assimilate the truth even if it was thrown at her face, constantly. And let’s not talk about how long it took her to get rid of the pages…
I hope that in the next book we get to see more about Lara’s fighting skills. We got a glimpse in some scenes, but she was mostly mending up people and I want to see full warrior Lara. Can’t wait to read the next book.
