The boy in the suitcase
Nina Borg, a Red Cross nurse and mother, finds herself in a dangerous situation when her estranged friend leaves her a key to a locker. Inside, she discovers a drugged three-year-old boy, leading her into a world of child trafficking and murder. As her friend is found brutally murdered, Nina realizes her life and the boy's are in grave danger. She embarks on a desperate journey across Denmark to uncover the boy's identity and escape those hunting them.
This is the first installment in the Nina Borg series, and while it introduces the protagonist and her personal circumstances, it functions as a self-contained mystery that does not require knowledge of later books to follow the plot.
