Synopsis

In 1933 East Texas, the Great Depression casts a long shadow. When young Harry Collins and his sister discover the brutally murdered body of a Black woman, their small town is gripped by fear and racial tension. As a second body, this time a white woman's, is found, Harry races against his prejudiced neighbors to uncover the true killer before an innocent man is lynched. He and his sister must search for a truth that runs deeper than any river or skin color.

Joe R. Lansdale is an American author of horror, crime, western and science fiction, born in Gladewater, Texas, and long based in Nacogdoches. He has written more than forty novels and many short stories, comics and screenplays, all steeped in the East Texas setting. He is best known for the Hap and Leonard crime series, the novella Bubba Ho-Tep and the novel The Bottoms, which won the Edgar Award. He has also won multiple Bram Stoker Awards.
