The Book of Joan

In a near-future Earth ravaged by war and radiation, humanity has retreated to CIEL, a platform hovering above their ruined home. Here, humans have evolved into sexless, pale beings, inscribing their histories on their skin. A ruthless cult leader, Jean de Men, establishes a police state on CIEL, but a rebellion forms, inspired by Joan, a child-warrior with a mysterious connection to the Earth. When Joan becomes a martyr, her unique gift and story unexpectedly shape the destiny of their world for generations.
