Synopsis

William is seventeen and already king, crowned as Henry IX. The regency still limits what he can do, and he is eager to show he can rule in his own right. His mother is Anne Boleyn, and the book imagines a Tudor court in which her son holds the throne.

The pressures come from two fronts. France threatens war abroad, while Catholic factions stir toward rebellion within England. Only three people have the king's full confidence: Elizabeth, his older sister, Dominic, his closest friend and adviser, and Minuette, an orphan Anne Boleyn raised as a royal ward.

Secrets, betrayal and murder surround the young king as he fights to hold his kingdom together. The strain deepens when both William and Dominic fall in love with Minuette. A friendship that has been the king's steadiest support now carries a rivalry, and a king's desire can cost the people near him dearly.

This is alternate-history historical fiction centred on a second generation of Tudors. It mixes court intrigue and political danger with a love triangle, and it builds toward a turn of fate that alters the course of England.
