Gayle Kloecker grew up in Erie, Pensylvaina, daughter of Renee and Francis Kloecker. In the college, she started to study engineering, but she left it. She married James Callen, and they had three children: Jim, Michelle, and Laura. The family resides in a suburb of Central New York. She needed 13 years to sell her first novel in 1999.
