The Arabian nightmare
In 1486 Cairo, under the rule of the Mamluk Sultanate, an English pilgrim and spy named Balian of Norwich sets out toward the Sinai Desert to see the relics of Saint Catherine. As he falls into a feverish sleep, his dreams begin to unfold into a series of nested narratives inspired by The Arabian Nights and The Manuscript Found in Saragossa — a dream within a dream, within a dream — each layer pulling him deeper into a labyrinth of betrayal, prophecy, and the past.
