Synopsis

In an alternate 1973, at the tense height of the Cold War, NASA launches Apollo 18—a secret military mission to the Moon, tasked with sabotaging a Soviet lunar rover and inspecting a Russian spy satellite that turns out not to be unmanned. On the ground in Houston, former astronaut Kazimieras 'Kaz' Zemeckis, grounded by a bird strike that cost him an eye, must hold the crew together and stay one step ahead of Soviet rivals as a deadly accident reveals that not everyone aboard is who they claim to be.

Written by real-life astronaut Chris Hadfield, The Apollo Murders is a meticulously authentic techno-thriller—alternate history rather than science fiction—where roughly ninety-five percent of what happens is real, and historical figures like Alan Shepard and Gene Kranz share the page with the fictional crew. As Washington and Moscow watch helplessly, their astronauts collide on the lunar surface, far beyond the reach of law or rescue. First in the Apollo Murders series.
