The angel tree
Synopsis
Greta left Marchmont Hall, a grand house in the hills of rural Monmouthshire, thirty years ago. Now she returns for Christmas at the invitation of her old friend David Marchmont, with no memory of ever having lived there. An accident erased more than two decades of her life.
During a walk in the winter woods, Greta comes upon a grave. The weathered headstone says a little boy is buried there. The discovery stirs something in her mind and sets her searching for the memories she has lost.
With David's help, she starts to assemble the pieces of her own past and of her daughter Cheska's. Cheska was the victim of circumstances she could not control, and she was far from the angel she seemed.
This is a family mystery built on secrets and forgotten history, with a country-house setting and a wintry mood. The answers come slowly, as Greta recovers them one fragment at a time.
